In Ascoli Piceno the first solo exhibition of illustrator Elisa Seitzinger

From May 28 to Sept. 18, 2022 in Ascoli Piceno and from Oct. 15, 2022 to Jan. 8, 2023 in Domodossola, 'Seitzinger Alchemica' is on the program: a journey recounting the milestones of Elisa Seitzinger's art.

Seitzinger Alchemica is the title of the solo exhibition of Elisa Seitzinger, illustrator and visual artist, curated by Stefano Papetti, Elisa Mori, Giorgia Berardinelli, Filippo Sorcinelli, and Paolo Lampugnani, under the patronage of ENIT - Ente Nazionale del Turismo, will focus on the production of the renowned artist and illustrator Elisa Seitzinger The initiative, which will take place from May 28 to September 18, 2022 in Ascoli Piceno (at the Forte Malatesta) and from October 15, 2022 to January 8, 2023 in Domodossola (at the Collegio Mellerio Rosmini) retraces, after years of intense work, the milestones in the career of Seitzinger, who was born on the slopes of Sacro Monte Calvario in Domodossola, and is from Turin by adoption, where she lives and works as an illustrator and visual artist.

Elisa Seitzinger’s path, inspired by the stylistic codes of classical art, medieval sacred and courtly art, primitive painting, Russian icons, Byzantine mosaics, tarot cards, esoteric iconography, ex-votos but also by the visual art of the 1920s and 1930s, always starts from manual ink drawing, pursuing a two-dimensionality and staticity with a symbolic charge. His compositions revisit medieval and Renaissance imagery while also drawing on a visual heritage that is very present in the images that populate the monuments of the city of Ascoli Piceno. Important works connote his artistic path so much that he earned the double gold medal 2021 (educational and scientific illustration category and illustration for design and advertising) and the bronze medal 2020 and 2021 (magazine illustration) awarded by the Association of Authors of Images.

Winner of Premio Illustri 2018 - Design category and selected by the Festival of the same name in 2019, among the ten most influential illustrators in Italy, selected for the Society of Illustrators 2021 annual exhibition at the Illustration Museum in New York, shortlisted for the World Illustration Awards 2021. Important collaborations include entities in publishing, music, fashion and industry: such as La Repubblica, L’Espresso, Il Sole 24ore, Rolling Stone, RAI, National Geographic, Warner Music Group, Adobe, Spotify, Apple Music, Taschen, Fandango, Codice Edizioni, Mondadori, Sabat Magazine, Favini, Barilla, Bulgari, Etro and Kristina Ti.

The Marche exhibition, accompanied by an immersive set-up in order to transport the visitor on an emotional journey, will be articulated through a series of sections on the second floor of the Malatesta Fortress, until it reaches the hall of the Church of Santa Maria del Lago, which will host the tarot installation. Images, videos, words, music, projections, fragrances, objects and installations will encompass the works of Elisa Seitzinger, encouraging visitors to enter the many facets of the world of the Turin-based artist.

Ten exhibition sections will transport patrons into the mysterious world of the artist, from the sacred to the profane, passing through myths, legends, large portraits, tarot cards and music. A true journey that will allow visitors to appreciate the works that have sprung from Seitzinger’s pen, often following prestigious collaborations such as the recent one with Vinicio Capossela on the occasion of his latest album Bestiario d’Amore, the one with the Turin Book Fair or the one with Hacca Edizioni for which she created the illustrations for the book Nome non ha, by writer Loredana Lipperini, dedicated to the Apennine Sibyl.
