The Cavallerizza - Center of Italian Photography in Bresciawelcomes from June 14 to September 7, 2025 the exhibition TINTO BRASS . Eroticism according to Tinto Brass, dedicated to Tinto Brass, curated by Renato Corsini and Caterina Varzi, the latter curator of theTinto Brass Archive and committed to the valorization of his artistic work.
The exhibition unfolds through more than 100 photographs taken by Gianfranco Salis, a photographer who has shared a deep creative bond with the Venetian director for more than 40 years. The exhibition traces the erotic phase of Brass’s filmography, from The Key (1983) to Hotel Courbet (2009). Through set images and stolen off-set shots, the exhibition offers an original look at the Brassian universe, revealing the human and artistic experience that animated his long career.
A special section is reserved for the film Tenera è la carne, a film that remained unfinished due to the producer’s untimely death after only three weeks of shooting. Photographs taken by Salis during that short time frame restore the visual impact and intensity of a project that was never completed.
The exhibition is completed by a selection of film posters, which tell the graphic and communicative evolution of Brass’s visual language, between provocation, creative freedom and aesthetic suggestions.
