Milan, Liceo Artistico students present Leonardo da Vinci's Codex Atlanticus in augmented reality

From December 19, 2019 to January 31, 2020, Milan's Liceo Artistico Boccioni will host the exhibition Leonardo da Vinci 4.0. The Atlantic Codex in augmented reality.

On the occasion of the celebrations for the five-hundredth anniversary of Leonardo’s death, the Liceo Artistico Statale Umberto Boccioni, in collaboration with the Leonardo da Vinci National Museum of Science and Technology in Milan, presents the multimedia exhibition event Leonardo da Vinci 4.0 in its premises. The Atlantic Codex in Augmented Reality.

Drawings of Leonardo’s machines, framed with a device, come to life through two- and three-dimensional animations in augmented reality. More than a year of student work based on experimentation with new technologies: holograms, virtual reality, robotic reconstructions, touch screens for an immersive experience in the mind of the Renaissance genius.

The project is curated by class 5°D of the Audiovisual Multimedia address in collaboration with class 3°D of the Design address, which presents for the occasion models inspired by the polyhedra interpreted by Leonardo for Luca Pacioli’s De Divina Proportione. The exhibition was also realized in partnership with the schools of the Ares (Augmented Reality for Educationat School) Network, namely theIstituto Tecnico Tecnologico Galileo Ferraris-Fermi of Verona, which is proposing the development of a mobile rover, and the Liceo Statale Maria Montessori of Rome, which has taken care of the internalization of the catalog.

The exhibition will remain open from Dec. 19, 2019, until Jan. 31, 2020. Hours: Mondays from 10 a.m. to 2:10 p.m., Tuesdays from 11:15 a.m. to 2:10 p.m., Wednesdays and Thursdays from 8 a.m. to 2:10 p.m., Fridays from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m., Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Closed Sundays, afternoons open by appointment.
