Twenty works by Ettore Tito on display in Milan

Milan's 'Ettore Tito between reality and seduction' exhibition: twenty works by the great Ettore Tito on display at Enrico Gallery.

Entitled Ettore Tito tra realtà e seduzione (Ettore Tito Between Reality and Seduction ), the exhibition at Gallerie Enrico in Milan showcases twenty works by the great painter Ettore Tito (Castellammare di Stabia, 1859 - Venice, 1941), born in Campania but adopted by Veneto as he moved to Venice at the age of eight, ninety years after the last solo exhibition the artist held in the Lombard capital. The exhibition, curated by Elisabetta Staudacher, makes use of prestigious loans that allow the framing of Ettore Tito’s career and is also an opportunity to present theEttore Tito Archive, born from an initiative of Angelo Enrico and Francesco Luigi Maspes and engaged in the archiving of the artist’s paintings to allow the realization of the catalog raisonné.

“The exhibition,” reads the presentation, “will allow to retrace the intense activity of Ettore Tito, an artist of international scope, whose works are hosted by the most prestigious museums in Italy and internationally, starting from the 1880s, with paintings inspired by Venetian life, particularly appreciated by the English market, to the 1930s, with symbolist and intimist subjects, characterized by a fresh brushstroke.”

On display are important works such as La fa la modela, a work from the 1980s inspired by the painting with which Ettore Tito made a name for himself at the 1884 Milan Fine Arts Exhibition, as well as Raggi di sole from 1892, Lago di Alleghe from 1893, a work from Paolo Ingegnoli’s historic Milanese collection and also exhibited at the 1900 Paris World’s Fair, and Il convegno, an important canvas presented at the 1936 Venice Biennale.

The exhibition is open from March 16 to May 26, 2018, Monday through Saturday, 10am-1pm and 3pm-7pm. Admission is free.
