After the usual summer break, the art and collecting market is picking up steam again with a schedule of auctions. From fine art photography to painting and contemporary art, here’s an overview of upcoming events in Italy and abroad from August 27 to September 2, 2026.

During the week of August 27 through September 2, 2026, the art market reopens after the summer break, kicking off a series of auctions ranging from antiques to paintings, from artist’s books to film memorabilia and design.

Auctions in Italy

As for Italian auction houses, the season kicks off with Bertolami Fine Art, which is holding the “Art and Artist Books from the Library of Mario Padovan” sale, running from July 23 to September 10. Next up is Florence-based Pananti with two events dedicated to the visual arts: the online sale “Artists from the 17th to the 21st Century,” running from August 3 to September 1, and the timed auction “Prints and Editions,” open from August 3 to September 2. Next up is Maison Bibelot with the timed auction *Déballage: Auction Bargains*, scheduled from August 15 to September 8. Rounding out the national scene is Finarte, which is offering the online auction *EASY COLLECTING / Swarovski: Art of Light*, running through September 2.

Auctions Abroad

Turning our attention to the international scene, the calendar kicks off in New York with Sotheby’s, which presents “Irving Norman: Pomp and Circumstance” from August 7 to 31, alongside the exhibition and sale “The Artists Among Us” at its London location from August 17 to 28. In Northern Europe, Bonhams takes center stage with its Swedish online auction, “Modern Art Online – August,” running from August 20 to 29. At the same time, Christie’s is hosting an event in London from August 20 through September 3: “Studio 1766: Christie’s London Staff Art Show.” Between August 21 and 28, Sotheby’s will host both the London auction “Arcade | London” (August 28 only) and the U.S. sale “The Artists Among Us” in New York (exhibition and sale August 21–28). Bonhams then continues in Denmark with the “Coins” numismatic sale on August 30 and the “Paintings, Furniture, and Miscellaneous” session on August 31. Finally, the Austrian auction house Dorotheum kicks off September with an online sale from the Palais Dorotheum in Vienna dedicated to Asian Art, scheduled for September 1.
