The special openings of state museums at Ferragosto attracted a great deal of interest from visitors.

On Aug. 14 and 15, 21,635 admissions were recorded at the Colosseum, 14,186 at the Uffizi, 10,038 at the Galleria dell’Accademia in Florence, 8,420 at the Boboli Gardens, 4,170 at the Palatine, 3,723 at the Roman Forum, 2,237 at the Pitti Palace, 2,227 at the Medici Chapels, 1,179 at the Baths of Caracalla, 1,077 at the National Roman Museum and 813 at the National Archaeological Museum in Taranto.

Cultural Heritage Minister Dario Franceschini is very satisfied and said, "The great success of Ferragosto al museo confirms that this will be another record-breaking year for state cultural venues, which, according to forecasts, could close with nearly 50 million admissions."
