An interactive Instagram filter to celebrate the 80th anniversary of Alighiero Boetti's birth

On the occasion of the 80th anniversary of Alighiero Boetti ’s birth and the launch of the documentary Alighiero e Boetti. Shaman and Showman, Sky Arte presents the Instagram filter Auguri Boetti, which can be downloaded directly from Sky Arte’s Instagram and Facebook profiles.

The filter is inspired by one of the most frequent subjects of the artist’s production: airplanes. Against the backdrop of a watercolor blue sky, each user becomes the protagonist of the work by directing the flight of the planes with his or her own movement: a light-hearted tribute to an artist in love with travel and geography, who played at “bringing the world into the world.”

The documentary Alighiero and Boetti. Shaman and Showman, produced by Sky Arte and Tiwi and directed by Amedeo Perri and Luca Pivetti, will be launched Dec. 16 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. as a Museovision premiere on the websites of six major Italian contemporary art museums: Castello di Rivoli Museo d’Arte Contemporanea, the Luigi Pecci Center for Contemporary Art in Prato, GAMeC - Galleria d’Arte Moderna e Contemporanea in Bergamo, Madre - Museo d’arte contemporanea Donnaregina in Naples, MAMbo - Museo d’Arte Moderna in Bologna, and MAXXI Museo nazionale delle arti del XXI secolo in Rome.

The documentary will be preceded by a virtual round table discussion, in which Sky Arte director Roberto Pisoni will dialogue with the directors of the six museum venues involved-Carolyn Christov-Bakargiev, Cristiana Perrella, Lorenzo Giusti, Kathryn Weir, Lorenzo Balbi, and Bartolomeo Pietromarchi-recalling the events that link the artist to museums and their territories.

Museovision is another important initiative of Sky Arte that aims to support the world of art and culture in this pandemic period. In fact, in addition to documentaries, series and programs such as The Square, Sipario! Stories of Theater, Indie Jungle, and Museums, available for everyone to stream for free at https://video.sky.it/arte and on Sky Arte’s Facebook and Instagram profiles.

The film will air on Sky Arte on December 16 at 9:15 p.m. and will be available on demand and streaming on NOW TV.
