Officina libraria presents the book 'Varallo at the time of Gaudenzio Ferrari. Itineraries,' edited by Giovanni Agosti, Donata Minonzio and Jacopo Stoppa.

In the wake of the success of the major exhibition on Gaudenzio Ferrari last spring, the Officina Libraria publishing house is publishing the volume Varallo ai tempi di Gaudenzio Ferrari. Itineraries, edited by Giovanni Stoppa, Donata Minonzio and Jacopo Stoppa (Agosti and Stoppa were also the curators of the exhibition). The review had allowed for an in-depth study of the work of the great Gaudenzio Ferrari (Valduggia, c. 1480 - Milan, 1546), one of the greatest exponents of the Piedmontese Renaissance, and had been accompanied by many publications: the new book allows for a broadening of the discourse to the territory. The pages of the volume thus explore private residences such as Casa Scaglia, Casa Chiara and Casa già Morondi, charming hamlets such as Mantegna and Roccapietra and other places, discovering Gaudentius’ lesser-known works.

The book aims to be a kind of guide, scientifically rigorous, that takes the reader to discover the places of Gaudenzio Ferrari among houses, museums, historical buildings, and churches. Varallo in the Time of Gaudentius Ferrari. Itineraries includes, in addition to texts by the editors, texts by young scholars from the University of Milan: however, the whole book is written in a fluent and accessible language to allow everyone to understand the importance of one of the greatest masters of the 16th century. Again, the book is complemented by photographs specially taken by Mauro Magliani, an internationally renowned photographer who led a campaign aimed at renewing the widespread image of Gaudenzio Ferrari. A volume, then, for scholars but also for enthusiasts and heritage lovers.
