Genoa, Carlo Felice: great student adherence for project that brings young people to the theater for free

Great adherence by Genoa students to the "Ragazzi all'Opera" project. The Fondazione Teatro Carlo Felice is making a large number of tickets and subscriptions for the opera and symphony season available to them free of charge.

The Fondazione Teatro Carlo Felice di Genova invites school to the theater: it is making available to public and private school students in the city of Genoa and the Liguria region, of all levels, a large number of tickets and subscriptions for the opera and symphonic season that runs from January to June 2022. The aim is to raise awareness and consolidate the passion for great music, thanks to the contribution of Iren, a historic sponsor and founding partner.

With this proposal, the Carlo Felice wishes to involve students in an exciting experience and at the same time make them protagonists of the new Italian cultural trend, which aims at the recovery of musical traditions, by asking young people to involve in the initiative at least one adult from their family who will be able to attend the performances with a discounted ticket, amounting to 27.50 euros. Interested schools will be able to apply for season tickets for all performances of the opera calendar in rounds A, F, C (first three performances) and for the concert season. However, requests for individual performances will be accepted until all available seats are filled; accompanying teachers will also be provided free of charge.

The opera calendar includes La serva padrona and Trouble in Tahiti, Anna Bolena, Manon Lescaut, Rigoletto, and Il turco in Italia, while the concert calendar includes performances dedicated to great composers such as Beethoven, Mozart, and Schumann.

In less than a week there have been more than 1,500 applications from students in the city of Genoa, including more than 900 university students in the first twenty-four hours. “We are enthusiastic about the adherence to the project manifested by the young people of Genoa,” said Superintendent Claudio Orazi, “and ready to extend the initiative to schools throughout Liguria, thanks to the invaluable support of Iren, which wanted to believe in a project destined to restore the centrality of opera theater in the cultural life of the new generations. Opera is one of the highest forms of live art, which by virtue of its multimedia and multidimensionality can be particularly appealing from the point of view of a young person, to whom it offers exciting and meaningful aesthetic perspectives. Young people love and want to know more about opera, great music, and theater: it is our job to enable them to have access to it.”
