The Fondazione Corso – Culture del Contemporaneo – ETS is taking shape in the spacesof the former Cinema Corso in Vicenza, which has been closed for over thirty years. The project, sponsored by the Giuseppe Roi Foundation, restores the historic building at 31 Corso Fogazzaro to the city, transforming it into a multidisciplinary center dedicated to the contemporary arts and the younger generations. The new Foundation’s first initiative is the launch of a call for applications to identify the future Artistic and Cultural Director of CORSO, a role tasked with helping to define the center’s identity, its cultural positioning, and its programming. The search is aimed at professionals with experience in the field of contemporary arts and culture, capable of working across interdisciplinary fields and developing relationships with artists, institutions, and cultural organizations in Italy and abroad.

The establishment of the Foundation marks the transition from planning to the actual construction of a new cultural entity. The goal is to transform the former movie theater—which has been closed for more than thirty years—into a space open to experimentation, education, and participation, capable of engaging with the local community and welcoming diverse audiences. The CORSO project includes exhibitions, performances, workshops, educational activities, public events, temporary artist residencies, and cultural coworking spaces. This program aims to turn the building into a space for creation and sharing, where contemporary artistic practices can intertwine with research, education, and city life.

The new Foundation will be responsible for ensuring the continuity and autonomy of the cultural project, gradually building its identity and relationships with the local community. In this process, the Artistic and Cultural Directorate will play a central role in defining the curatorial direction and developing future programming. The selection process is open to both individual and collective applications. Candidates are required to have experience in the field of contemporary arts and culture, with a particular focus on interdisciplinary approaches and the ability to build collaborations among artists, institutions, and cultural networks. The appointment will begin even before the spaces open. The selected candidate will, in fact, be involved in the “Toward CORSO” phase, dedicated to the gradual development of the project’s public identity and the planning of its first cultural activities. Expressions of interest must be submitted by November 30, 2026. The process includes a second phase, reserved for shortlisted candidates, during which they will be asked to submit a project proposal. The call is sponsored by Fondazione Corso – Culture del Contemporaneo – ETS, while Fondazione Giuseppe Roi is responsible for the operational management of this launch phase.

Alongside the development of the future center’s cultural identity, the transformation of the building at 31 Corso Fogazzaro continues. The architectural design was selected through an international competition organized by the Giuseppe Roi Foundation and won by the ALTRALINEA team in collaboration with SPARCH. The project aims to give the city back a space capable of evolving over time, offering venues for artistic experimentation and new opportunities for gathering and participation. The establishment of the Foundation and the opening of the selection process for the Artistic and Cultural Director, announced on October 23, 2026, thus represent two fundamental steps toward the realization of CORSO: on the one hand, the establishment of the cultural structure; on the other, the architectural transformation of a historic building into a new landmark for the contemporary arts in Vicenza.
