Bill Viola, Jago and Van Gogh: the 2022 exhibitions at the Palazzo Bonaparte in Rome

Palazzo Bonaparte in Rome will resume its exhibition program in 2022: Bill Viola, Jago and Van Gogh exhibitions already announced.

Starting in March 2022, Palazzo Bonaparte in Rome will resume its exhibition program thanks to Generali Valore Cultura. The Palazzo had been opened after a significant restoration in 2019 by Generali Italia in partnership with Arthemisia with the intention of creating a new art and culture hub. The Palazzo owes its name to Napoleon Bonaparte’s mother, Maria Letizia Ramolino, who used to observe the passage of people between Piazza Venezia and Via del Corso from the little green balcony. The first exhibition set up in this new venue was dedicated to Impressionism: Secret Impressionists presented more than fifty works from the world’s most important private collections that are normally inaccessible; works for the most part never on loan by artists such as Monet, Renoir, Cézanne, Pissarro, Sisley, Caillebotte, Morisot, Gonzalès, Gauguin, and Signac.

Two exhibitions, of contemporary art, are already planned for 2022. From March 5, 2022, Bill Viola will arrive in the capital, with an exhibition project curated by Kira Perov that will trace the artist’s entire career through ten large-scale installations. From March 12, 2022, an exhibition by Jago will be added, presenting for the first time the complete body of his Michelangelo-inspired work.

Arthemisia has also announced a major exhibition dedicated to Vincent van Gogh for October 2022.
