Until March 30, the Vôtre space in Carrara, on the main floor of the 18th-century Palazzo del Medico, is hosting an important solo exhibition by French sculptor Philippe Delenseigne (Calais, 1971) entitled Trans-Formazione animica, curated by Nicola Ricci. The exhibition features about thirty works created especially for the occasion, with materials typical of Delenseigne’s production (particularly marble and vinyl), including sculptures and paintings with the French artist’s characteristic extroflexions.
Philippe Delenseigne’s works, known as being somewhere between painting and sculpture, reflect on the relationship between matter and spirit, one of the great themes of art history. The “landscapes” created in the vinyl works, often monochrome, are symbolic of the stages of existence and become universal images. On display in Carrara are works of this kind but also new productions where vinyl and marble are harmoniously integrated, as well as one of the sculptures that interact with light (the projection of a light source onto the surface of the work gives rise to a shadow that completes the idea of the work itself).
Philippe Delenseigne, born in Calais, northern France, in 1971, is a self-taught artist, and from the beginning he has devoted himself to painting, sculpture and video art, demonstrating his character as an eclectic and experimental artist. He has worked and exhibited in several countries: Italy, Germany, France, the Czech Republic, Spain, Norway, Russia, and Japan. Today Delenseigne lives and works in Pietrasanta.
The exhibition is open Tuesday through Saturday from 3 to 7 p.m. For information, you can call 338 4417145 or email associazionevotre@gmail.com.
