Collecting Pokémon cards has returned to the spotlight in recent years, with values that can reach high figures. This is the context for an initiative organized by Collecto, an Italian startup that fractionalizes collectibles ranging from art and luxury watches to sports and music memorabilia, as well as fine wines and spirits.
From September 16 to 18,at the Edicolina in Piazza Santo Stefano in Milan, one of the world’s rarest Charizard cards will be on display: a 1996 No Rarity Symbol card from the first Japanese print run, currently estimated to be worth approximately 1 million euros. The card will be kept inside a secure display case. The Edicolina will also serve as a gathering place for collectors, enthusiasts, and the curious. The event will be open to the public on September 16 from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and on September 17 and 18 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Over the course of the three days, visitors will have the opportunity to meet industry experts, who will appraise the cards brought by visitors, explaining their characteristics, quality, and collectible value.
The initiative coincides with Pokémon’s 30th anniversary and aims to showcase the “collecting 2.0” phenomenon, which extends beyond the world of Pokémon cards. Giovanni Camisasca, Founder & CEO of Collecto, will also share data and insights on the industry: the platform has seen its transaction volume grow from 380,000 euros in 2023 to approximately 60 million euros in 2025.
