The exhibition brings together over two hundred photographs, including previously unseen works and iconic images, and marks the duo’s first project to explore the body as a site of identity, transformation, and the symbolic construction of the present. The subjects—including figures from contemporary culture, performers, dancers, and internationally renowned personalities—comprise a human atlas that captures the tensions and metamorphoses of today’s society.

Francesca Alfano Miglietti’s selection transcends the boundaries of fashion photography to explore the poetic and political dimensions of portraiture. The bodies, depicted in their fragmentary state and suspended between vulnerability and monumentality, traverse the exhibition space in a composition of light and shadow that questions the relationship between vision, desire, and authenticity. Luigi & Iango’s work thus occupies a space where photography becomes a critical tool for investigating the condition of the contemporary body and challenging the mechanisms of visibility and identity construction.

Collaborating partners include Ital Communications, Insideart, Massimo Leonardelli PR, Roma & Partners, and èFuoriSala. Bang & Olufsen is the technical sponsor.

“At the heart of their work lies a reflection on the body as a political, poetic, and symbolic space,” emphasizes Francesca Alfano Miglietti. “In their photographs, there is no stable or definitive identity: the human figure appears instead as matter in transformation, an organism traversed by cultural tensions, desires, vulnerabilities, and processes of self-redefinition. The legacy of performative practices, post-identity theories, and the cultural transformations that marked the second half of the 20th century silently permeates these images. Luigi & Iango absorb these complexities into a visual grammar composed of fragments, suspensions, and disjointedness, where the portrait becomes both a site of revelation and a source of unease.”

““The exhibition,” states Moreno Zani, founder of Tenderstories, “is conceived from a reflection on the need for a poetic escape from spectacle—a reflection that evolves into an exploration of the human body as a barometer of contemporary times, in which identity is both a choice and a possibility. The poetic dimension, together with the narrative one, characterizes the entire exhibition.” And further: “The appropriation of different languages—both specifically artistic and social in a broader sense—brings the boundaries of various codes into collision, leading to unexpected outcomes. Thus, the exhibition unfolds as a complex narrative rich in references to various sources. At times, a return to the tradition of reportage seems indispensable; at other times, the appeal of a poignant and melancholic poeticism prevails, or the language of compassion. The defining feature of all the works is the absolute centrality of the dialogue with reality, since each work draws upon materials from life.”
