From October 31, 2026, to February 28, 2027, OGR Torino, a hub of the Fondazione CRT, will host *The Quantum Effect*, an exhibition dedicated to the role of quantum theory in contemporary visual culture—from cinema to pop culture to the artistic practices of recent decades. The project, produced by OGR Torino and SMAC Venice (San Marco Art Venice), is curated by Daniel Birnbaum and Jacqui Davies and takes the form of a group exhibition that explores the paradoxes of space and time through the works of some of the leading figures on the international art scene.
The exhibition brings together works by artists such as Cerith Wyn Evans, Isa Genzken, Tomás Saraceno, Mark Leckey, Rirkrit Tiravanija, Elaine Sturtevant, and Man Ray, connecting different artistic languages and approaches united by a shared interest in concepts related to perception, the universe, and the limits of knowledge.
Alongside the main exhibition, *The Quantum Effect* will be accompanied by a program of ancillary events, including the presentation of an infinity mirror room by Yayoi Kusama, one of the best-known figures in international contemporary art. The installation *The Eternally Infinite Light of the Universe Illuminating the Quest for Truth* uses light, reflections, and repetition to explore themes of the infinite, the perception of space, and the relationship between the individual and the universe.
The program also includes a film series organized in collaboration with the National Cinema Museum, featuring a selection of films that engage with the themes explored in the exhibition. The project also draws inspiration from cinematic references that have influenced the curatorial approach, including the enigmatic black monolith from Stanley Kubrick’s *2001: A Space Odyssey* (1968), to explore the connections between cinema, perception, and speculative imaginaries.
The reflections presented in the exhibition will also be explored in greater depth through the book *The Quantum Effect*, published by Verlag Walther und Franz Koenig—whose shape evokes that of the monolith—and through a series of talks dedicated to the impact of quantum theory on contemporary art and culture. The opening is scheduled for Friday, October 30, 2026, from 7:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. at Binario 1 of the OGR Turin.
