Scorribanda: a tale of sixty years at L'Attico Gallery in Rome

Rome kicks off 'Scorribanda' exhibition chronicling 60 years of L'Attico Gallery at the National Gallery of Modern and Contemporary Art in Rome.

January 22 will see the opening of the exhibition "Scorribanda," which will run at the National Gallery of Modern and Contemporary Art in Rome from January 23 to March 4.“Scorribanda” is a visual narrative of the 60 years of L’Attico Gallery, which was founded in 1957 by Bruno Sargentini in Piazza di Spagna and where various artists such as Capogrossi, Leoncillo, Fontana, Mafai, Fautrier, Brauner, Magritte, Matta, Permeke, and Canogar took turns.

The exhibition was organized by Fabio Sargentini, Bruno’s son, who comments, "I wanted to give this exhibition, which occupies the entire Central Hall of the National Gallery of Modern and Contemporary Art, a title that reflected the spirit of adventure that animated me in running L’Attico, my art gallery. There is indeed in ’Scorribanda’ a piratical, privateering feel that I like. It fits well with the arrangement of the works on the wall, designed by me as a narrative without pauses. ’Scorribanda’ is in effect an installation. Some 40 works, including paintings and large-scale sculptures from the late 1950s to the present day, brush against the wall and envelop the Central Hall in an embrace. A 360-degree glance that smacks of encirclement. Given the juxtaposition of different styles and eras, the effect should be bewildering, spectacular. Let’s enjoy it!"
Opening hours: Tuesday through Sunday: 8:30 a.m. - 7:30 p.m. (last admission 45 minutes before closing).

Full ticket price at € 10, reduced ticket price at € 5.
