The Palazzo Ducale in Genoa hosts from November 16, 2023 to April 1, 2024 the exhibition "Artemisia Gentileschi. Courage and Passion." Over fifty masterpieces outline an accurate portrait of Artemisia's complex personality.

From November 16, 2023 to April 1, 2024, the Palazzo Ducale in Genoa will host the exhibition Artemisia Gentileschi. Courage and Passion, curated by Costantino D’Orazio with the collaboration of Anna Orlando, promoted and organized by Arthemisia with Palazzo Ducale Fondazione per la Cultura, the City of Genoa and the Region of Liguria.

More than fifty masterpieces from all over Europe will be on display to outline a precise portrait of the complex personality of Artemisia Gentileschi, one of the most famous artists in the history of art. The exhibition aims to tell the story, works and talent of Artemisia through great masterpieces and announces surprising new revelations.

Amid exciting family events, revolutionary artistic solutions, dramatic images and female triumphs, the exhibition also aims to present Artemisia’s relationship with her father Orazio Gentileschi. Orazio and Artemisia will be told through close comparisons between canvases with the same subject, to understand how she was able to overcome her father’s language. The two artists will also be placed in dialogue with Caravaggio’s style.

The exhibition has Generali Valore Cultura as a sponsor and Ricola as a special partner.
