Udine, major exhibition announced with masterpieces by the great masters of the 19th and 20th centuries

This fall Casa Cavazzini in Udine will host some seventy masterpieces from museums throughout Europe by the greatest masters of the 19th and 20th centuries.

This fall, masterpieces from museum venues across Europe created by the greatest masters of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries will arrive in Udine: from October 16, 2021 to March 27, 2022 Casa Cavazzini, home of the Gallery of Modern and Contemporary Art, will host the exhibition The Shape of the Infinite, curated by Don Alessio Geretti.

About seventy works by Monet, Van Gogh, Gauguin, Picasso, Kandinsky, Fontana, Vedova, De Chirico and many others, including some never exhibited before, will revolve around the"immense aspiration to find the infinite."

According to the curator’s presentation, the exhibition is intended to be a “key to enter modern and contemporary art, discovering its fundamental intention: to make visible that in every corner of the world, behind the first appearance of things, especially within the human being, dwells an immense aspiration to find the infinite.” And “lines, colors and materials have the power to make us touch it.”

The exhibition “will inflame the senses and thought, scenarios that evoke the sense of immensity, the experience of passing time and the longing for eternity, our consciousness, always dramatically poised between the finite and the infinite,” Geretti continues; “the artists who intended to make us see the momentum toward the infinite. But also those who instead lament that we are condemned to an unsustainable finiteness and, finally, two possible ways, ours to brush against the infinite and that of the mystery that decides to come to meet us.”

“It will be a journey in search of ourselves, through which Don Geretti, creator and curator of the great exhibition of masterpieces from all over the world that this administration has the honor of organizing, will lead us,” commented Udine Mayor Pietro Fontanini.
