Pandolfini’s fall season opens on October 1 in Florence with the customary two-part session dedicated to Old Master Paintings and works of exceptional historical and artistic interest. The date coincides with the Biennale dell’Antiquariato, an event that will bring collectors, scholars, and enthusiasts to the Tuscan capital, with a particular focus on the Italian artistic tradition.
The session dedicated to works of exceptional historical and artistic interest—the only one of its kind on the Italian market—features a catalog spanning the 15th to the 20th centuries. The selection was curated based on the artistic quality, historical significance, and rarity of the lots. The core of the collection consists of old master paintings, including several works from the Italian Renaissance:the Adoration of the Magi by Pseudo Donato de’ Bardi, the monumental Saint Roch Healing the Lepers by Mirabello Cavalori—an artist associated with the Studiolo of Francesco I de’ Medici—and the Deposition of Christ by Antonio Allegri, known as Correggio. Also featured are the “Death of Saint Jerome” by Ludovico Carracci andthe “Covenant of Jacob and Laban” by Pietro Berrettini, known as Pietro da Cortona, one of the leading figures of the early Baroque.
The exhibition is complemented by a selection of works from the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, including the bronze sculpture *Lady with a Fan* by Libero Andreotti and a sketch by Giuseppe Bezzuoli. Rounding out the offering are two autograph manuscripts by Guido Reni and Francesco Albani and an autograph drawing by Carlo Dolci.
On the same day, at Palazzo Ramirez Montalvo, the Auction of Old Master Paintings will take place, featuring works dating from the 15th to the 18th centuries and a selection of sacred and secular subjects. The catalog features works by Ludovico Mazzolino, Jacopo Robusti (known as Tintoretto), Johann Liss, Bartolomeo Bettera, Giovan Battista Tiepolo, and Fra Galgario. Among the highlights is the *Mater Dolens* by Giovanni Francesco Barbieri, known as Guercino—a previously unseen painting featuring an almost life-size figure and of prestigious provenance—as well as the tondo *Madonna and Child with the Infant Saint John* by Domenico di Jacopo di Pace, known as Beccafumi.
Landscape painting is represented by Paul Brill’s *Teagine and Cariclea Abducted by Bandits*, a scene with colorful and bucolic tones, while the Caravaggio style finds an interpreter in Mathias Stomer with the large canvas *The Healing of Tobias*. Rounding out the selection are various figure paintings and portraits, both female and male, including a portrait by Giovanni Benedetto Castiglione and a rare painting from the Venetian school depicting an Oriental Dignitary.
The works will be on display at Palazzo Ramirez Montalvo from September 25 to 30, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
