At the Egyptian Museum in Turin, contemporary fashion dialogues with ancient Egypt

Contemporary fashion meets the symbolic legacy of ancient Egypt: from June 9 to 15, 2026, the Egyptian Museum in Turin hosts the exhibition Hieroglam. Central to the project is the reinterpretation of symbols and amulets in contemporary sartorial creations.

From June 9 to 15, 2026, the Egyptian Museum in Turin will host Hieroglam, an exhibition that connects contemporary fashion with thesymbolic legacy of ancient Egypt. The initiative is a collaboration between the IUAD Academy of Milan and Naples, Mazzini Research Archives and the Egyptian Museum.

Central to the project is the reinterpretation of symbols and amulets, such as the sun, the uraean serpent, the ankh and the winged scarab. These elements are analyzed, broken down and reworked to give life to contemporary sartorial creations. This is not a simple citation of the past, but an innovative reinterpretation in which fashion takes on the role of a narrative tool. Thanks to the use of innovative fabrics and lines with a strong aesthetic impact, the clothes are transformed into modern talismans capable of evoking ancient meanings and suggestions.

The exhibition itinerary develops between the first and second floors of the museum and in the area Matter. Form of Time, where thirty creations made by IUAD students are presented. The works reinterpret the visual imagery of ancient Egypt through a contemporary sensibility. The Kings Gallery, on the other hand, hosts a selection of creations signed by major players in international high fashion, including Chanel, Gianfranco Ferré, Antonio Raimondi, Rick Owens, Jean Paul Gaultier, Lanvin and Issey Miyake.

With Hieroglam, the Egyptian Museum aims to be a meeting place between different disciplines and languages, offering visitors an experience that combines history, creativity and stylistic research in a completely contemporary perspective. The exhibition is included in the admission ticket to the Egyptian Museum.
