Art historian Chiara Teolato is the new director of the Consortium of Royal Residences of Savoy. Born in 1973, Chiara Teolato graduated from the Faculty of Letters and Philosophy at La Sapienza in Rome in 1998 with a thesis on Giovanni Volpato, a porcelain manufacturer in Rome in the second half of the 18th century, and then specialized, also at La Sapienza, in Medieval and Modern Art History in 2002. She then obtained her doctorate at the University of Roma Tre in 2010, with a thesis on decorative bronzes in eighteenth-century Rome. She then furthered her education in Leeds, England, and Stockholm.



From 1998 to 2013, she was a high school literature teacher, after which she joined the ranks of the Ministry of Culture in 2013 with the role of art historian official, at the Regional Directorate of Piedmont, a role she held until 2018, when she was was appointed director of Palazzo Carignano in Turin, a role she held until 2021 (meanwhile, she was also the director of the Castello Ducale in Agliè for four months in 2019). Also in 2021, she was deputy director of Villa della Regina, after which, in November 2021, she became director of the same museum, a role she has held to date. To her credit she also has numerous publications on eighteenth-century art terms, especially Roman, her field of specialization.
