As of January 2, 2026, the Ducal Palace in Mantua will introduce a series of changes affecting the tour route, access to the main rooms of the complex, and the fees charged to the public. The changes will affect in particular the Bridal Chamber for which the capacity is planned to be expanded. The current limit of 26 people per ten minutes will be increased to 30, with the aim of optimizing the flow while maintaining regulated access. The entire ticketing system will be upgraded. The full ticket, valid for visiting St. George’s Castle with the Bridal Chamber, New Court, Old Court and Archaeological Museum, will increase from 15 to 18 euros. The fee will include compulsory date and time reservations for entrance to the Bridal Chamber, as well as access to the rest of the museum tour. As of January 13, 2026, the full ticket will be valid for one month, allowing the different sections of the Palace to be visited at multiple times during the relevant month.
The reduced ticket, which does not include admission to the Castle and the Bridal Chamber, will remain available. This rate will also undergo an upgrade, from 9 to 11 euros. At the same time, the facility will adopt a new system of separate entrances: visiting the Castle and the Bridal Chamber will continue to be entered and exited from Piazza Castello, while access to Corte Vecchia and Corte Nuova will be exclusively from Piazza Sordello. Entrance to the Archaeological Museum will also remain independent from Piazza Sordello. As communicated, the price adjustments result from the general increase in operating costs and services. At the same time, it is planned to introduce an additional service aimed at all visitors: with the purchase of the ticket, in fact, it will be possible to download an audioguide, available as free content, onto one’s device.
Further changes concern subscriptions and specific fees. The supplement for the Bridal Chamber intended for holders of the Musei Lombardia, Mantova e Sabbioneta and Treccani cards will increase to 7 euros. The Amico del Ducale and Maecenas subscriptions will be upgraded to 25 and 100 euros, respectively. Concessions provided by Ministerial Decree 507 of December 11, 1997, as amended, will remain unchanged, along with dedicated rates for school groups for both admission and guide service. What changes, however, is the cost of the weekend fixed-departure guided tour, which will rise from 7 to 9 euros per person.
