Naples /hubsuperstudio - performing arts hub, a new project dedicated to the world of arts, entertainment and cultural and creative industry, is born in Naples, taking shape from the redevelopment of an industrial space of about 1,200 square meters located in Via Galileo Ferraris, inside the building known as the former Pirelli Factory. The area, located in a strategic area of the city and close to the railway station, highway axis and airport, is currently involved in a broader process of urban regeneration involving the productive and infrastructural fabric of the eastern part of Naples.
The project is configured as a technologically equipped hub entirely dedicated to the performing arts, with the aim of offering services and work spaces to support dance, theater, music, photography, visual arts, digital practices and hybrid disciplines related to live performance and cultural production. In a territorial context often characterized by the dispersion of creative skills to other areas of the country or abroad, /hubsuperstudio intends to offer itself as a stable infrastructure for training, research and artistic production in Southern Italy.
Underlying the initiative is the idea of two young people with a background and strong passion for dance and music: Sara Foglia, artistic director of the space, and Igino Foglia. The project took shape thanks to an entirely private investment, particularly of a family nature, supported by professionals with experience in the field of architectural design and redevelopment. An operation that has made it possible to combine the recovery of a disused industrial building with the creation of a multipurpose center intended for young dancers, musicians, actors and visual artists, offering them the opportunity to develop paths of higher education and production without necessarily having to leave Naples.
The start of activities is accompanied by an articulated program of courses and workshops, which can be consulted on the facility’s official website, involving areas such as dance, theater, music, radio, photography, visual arts and digital innovation. The intent is to attract professionals and teachers of national and international level to Naples, expanding the educational offerings and encouraging confrontation with contemporary languages and practices. The official opening of activities, which sees /hubsuperstudio host a dance workshop dedicated to the MoDem language and the presentation of the volume Omnia Corpora by choreographer Roberto Zappalà, is also part of this direction. The meeting is curated by Professor Alessandro Pontremoli, professor of performing arts disciplines at the University of Turin, and is one of the first public events of the new hub.
The interior spaces of /hubsuperstudio have been designed keeping a strong link with the industrial history of the building that houses them, recovering the productive memory of the former Pirelli Factory and declining it in a contemporary key. The structure includes a large hall intended for dance, movement and theater rehearsals, called Corpo Officina, which covers an area of 340 square meters. Next to this is the Engine and Listening Room, dedicated to music and sound, with an additional area reserved for podcast production. There is also the Fusion Room, a black box designed for performances and experimental activities; the Thinking Workshop, a space for shared work and design; the Light Cabin, equipped for photo shoots; and the ARea arTE exhibition area, intended for exhibitions and installations.
The activities and services offered by the hub include advanced art education courses, interdisciplinary creative workshops, art residencies, workshops, conferences and meetings dedicated to the performing arts. The facility also provides services for digital content production, photography studios, shared work spaces, equipment for art and film productions, rehearsal rooms for dance, theater and performing arts companies, as well as exhibition environments for installations and visual projects. Rehearsals for theater, music and dance performances, as well as audiovisual productions and recording projects, can be carried out within /hubsuperstudio. The space is also proposed as an operational support for the photographic sector and film productions, thanks to the flexibility of the environments and technical equipment.
