MiC, two million euros to twenty Italian foundations to create art residencies for Ukrainian artists

Culture Minister Dario Franceschini signed a decree allocating two million euros to twenty Italian cultural foundations to set up art residencies for Ukrainian artists.

Minister of Culture Dario Franceschini signed a decree allocating two million euros to twenty Italian cultural foundations for the creation of artistic residencies for Ukrainian artists in their respective fields of activity: from theater to cinema, from visual arts to opera, from dance to museology. This intervention is in addition to the Italian government’s decision to offer Ukraine the means to rebuild the Mariupol Theater when conditions permit. "A concrete support to the Ukrainian artists who in these dramatic hours are fleeing the war to find refuge in Italy. Allowing them to continue to carry out their creative work is a fitting gesture of solidarity in the name of a culture that truly unites the world."

Specifically, the two million euros of resources dedicated to the operation of legal entities created or participated in by the Ministry of Culture are allocated in 100,000-euro tranches to the following 20 foundations: the Fondazione MAXXI - Museo nazionale delle arti del XXI secolo; the Fondazione la Biennale di Venezia; the Fondazione la Triennale di Milano; the Fondazione la Quadriennale di Roma; the Fondazione Museo delle antichità egizie di Torino; the Fondazione Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia di Roma; the Fondazione Accademia Nazionale di S. Cecilia of Rome; the Fondazione Arena di Verona; the Fondazione Lirico Sinfonica Petruzzelli e Teatri di Bari; the Fondazione Teatro alla Scala of Milan; the Fondazione Teatro Carlo Felice of Genoa; the Fondazione Teatro Comunale of Bologna; the Fondazione Teatro dell’Opera of Rome; the Fondazione Teatro di San Carlo of Naples; the Fondazione Teatro la Fenice of Venice; the Fondazione Teatro Lirico of Cagliari; the Fondazione Teatro Lirico Giuseppe Verdi of Trieste; the Fondazione Teatro Maggio Musicale Fiorentino; the Fondazione Teatro Massimo of Palermo; and the Fondazione Teatro Regio of Turin.
