Works by leading photographers, from Skoglund to Gastel, in online auction for charity

There is time until Dec. 1 to participate in the online charity auction, which offers for sale works by leading photographers, such as Douglas Kirland, Sandy Skoglund, Giovanni Gastel and others, to help children with severe communication disabilities.

Works by leading photographers such as Douglas Kirkland, Sandy Skoglund, Giovanni Gastel and many others go up for auction to help children who cannot communicate because they have severe communication disabilities. There is time until Dec. 1 to win works in the online charity auction in support of the Benedetta D’Intino Onlus Center, which has been assisting children with severe communication disabilities and children and youth in need of psychological support for nearly 30 years. To win a work, simply log on to the charitystars.com platform, register and place your bid.

The auction ends on Dec. 1, at the Deeply Human event, promoted by the Center at BASE Milano (Ground Hall 1 via Bergognone 34): a charity cocktail reception scheduled from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. to meet those supporters, photography enthusiasts and members of the public who want to learn more about the Center’s work. During the evening it will be possible to see the auctioned shots live, accompanied by their authors, and, through a multimedia installation, which features augmented reality and interaction and will see the light of day for the very first time at the event, it will be possible to live a unique and touching experience experiencing what it means to communicate without being able to speak. The installation is a project curated by Alberto Biasutti, Maria Paola Di Francesco and Stefano Zullo.

Works going up for auction include Margot Kidder, Playboy (1975) by Douglas Kirkland, the recently deceased legendary photographer of divas, who in a 60-year career immortalized Hollywood stars from Marilyn Monroe to Angelina Jolie, and then again The Wedding (1994) by Sandy Skoglund, the U.S. conceptual artist, among the most well-known exponents of Staged Photography, famous for portraying scenes of everyday life disrupted by surreal and fantastic events, to continue with shots by Giovanni Gastel, Lorenzo Marini, Marina Bolla, Fabrizio Spucches, Giovanni Crovetto and many other photographers from the contemporary art scene.

In addition to supporting the Clinical Center, the Benedetta D’intino Foundation is committed to increasing awareness of communicative disability. That is why, for years, we have been carrying out various initiatives with the aim of addressing an increasingly broad audience. We do this through a scientific journal, a play, a journalistic award. Now we are happy to try it with an installation that gives the opportunity to live a unique experience, says Mattia Formenton, president of the Benedetta D’Intino Foundation.

The Profoundly Human event in support of clinical pathways for children at the Benedetta D’Intino Center is open to the public upon a minimum donation of €100 per person. For information and reservations, write to ufficiorf@benedettadintino.it
