ColornoPhotoLife, the festival for photography enthusiasts, kicks off. Theme the Human Factor


The event for photography enthusiasts returns to Colorno: ColornoPhotoLife. September 11 through December 8, 2021.

From September 11 to December 8, 2021, the 2021 edition of ColornoPhotoLife will be held in Colorno (Parma). The theme of this new edition will be the Human Factor.

The photography event offers enthusiasts of all levels the opportunity to exhibit their photographs alongside those of masters and see current trends in national photography.

The festival also features several exhibitions: shots from the exhibitions Il Ritratto, Sciascia a Borges by Sicilian photographer Ferdinando Scianna (from Sept. 12 to Dec. 8) and Uno sguardo di donna su volti, corpi, paesaggi by photographer Carla Cerati (from Oct. 16 to Dec. 8) organized in collaboration with ANTEA and curated by Sandro Parmiggiani and thanks to prestigious loans from the Centro Studi e Archivio della Comunicazione of the University of Parma, will be on display in the rooms of the Reggia di Colorno.

In the museum space of Colorno’s MUPAC, in the 18th-century Aranciaia room, exhibitions by young emerging authors will be on display from September 11 to October 10: Il condominio by Veronica Benedetti (winner of the MUSA prize for women); Brian Damage by Michele Di Donato curated by Loredana De Pace; and Crossing the Balkans by Matteo Placucci, curated by Loredana De Pace.

From Oct. 15 to Nov. 7, Matteo Placucci’s Crossing the Balkans exhibition will continue and will be joined by Giulio Di Meo’s Anticorpi Bolognesi exhibitions in collaboration with Stop - a small independent photography festival; Francesca Artoni’s Ruggine (Colornophotolife 2020 winner); Maria Cristina Comparato’s Della presenza (Portfolio Italia 2020 winner); Luigi Ottani’s Shooting in Sarajevo, on a project by Roberta Biagiarelli and Luigi Ottani; and the collective Color’s Light.

Other exhibitions will present the results of thematic workshops Man and Humanity by the FIAF culture department representing sister festivals FacePhotoNews in Sassoferato, A Peninsula of Light in Sestri Levante, CARPI Foto Festival of Carpi’s Grandangolo and GF Colibrì in Modena, will be spread around the country, on the ground floor of the Aranciaia, inside the Venaria, in the “Mulino Ducale” civic hall and in commercial spaces.

Also planned are workshops with lecturers in the field. This year’s training program includes: on Sept. 25 Workshop Loredana De Pace “HOW (and WHY) TO MAKE A FANZINE”; Oct. 9 and 10 Workshop with Sara Munari “The Search for Photographic Style”; Oct. 23 and 24: Workshop by Giulio Di Meo “The Human Factor.”

The weekend of Oct. 16 and 17 will then see Portfolio Italia, the most important portfolio competition in the country. Critics, photography historians, photographers and insiders will be on hand to examine, comment on and award the work of young photographers. Cost 10 euros (2 readings), free for FIAF, Color’s Light and COOP alleanza3.0 members. Readers for this edition of Portfolio “10th Maria Luigia Prize” are Massimo Mazzoli, Orietta Bay, Laura Manione, Fulvio Merlak, Antonella Monzoni, Paola Riccardi, Angelo Ferrillo, Renza Grossi, Isabella Tholozan, Claudia Ioan, Massimiliano Tuveri, Silvano Bicocchi and Andrea Angelini.

The Festival is made possible through the sponsorship of Fiaf, the Municipality of Colorno, the Emilia Romagna Region and the Province of Parma. It is organized by the Color’s Light Photography Group and ANTEA.
