From June 20 to Sept. 28, 2025, every Friday, Saturday and Sunday evening, from 7:30 p.m. until the last entry at 10 p.m., it is possible to stroll through thearchaeological area of the Imperial Forums, immersing oneself under the starry sky in ancient Rome. The initiative is promoted by Roma Capitale, Assessorato alla Cultura - Sovrintendenza Capitolina ai Beni Culturali, and taken care of in services and organization by Zètema Progetto Cultura.
Access is from Piazza della Madonna di Loreto, at the Imperial Forum ticket office, located near Trajan’s Column. From here, a staircase allows visitors to descend to the level of the archaeological area; an elevator is also available for people with mobility disabilities. The tour, lasting about an hour with departure every half hour, takes place on a wide and easy walkway, and is accompanied by a tour guide. Visitors will be divided into groups of up to 25 people, with four shifts in Italian and two in English.
The itinerary starts at the Forum of Trajan, and then crosses the passage-gallery under Via dei Fori Imperiali that leads to the Forum of Caesar, where the remains of the Temple of Venus and the porticoes that housed the tabernacles of the time, that is, the offices and stores of the Forum, will be seen. The tour continues to the Curia, seat of the Roman Senate, finally ending on Via Bonella, near Largo Corrado Ricci / Via della Salara Vecchia.
The project is among the initiatives financed with the resources of the DPCM of April 10, 2024, earmarked for the “Reception Project” in view of the Jubilee 2025, to strengthen reception and surveillance services at the main archaeological sites and museums managed by the Capitoline Superintendence.
