Ozmo returns to Milan for monumental work inspired by Leonardo's masterpiece

A new monumental work by street artist Ozmo inspired by a masterpiece by Leonardo has been donated to the city of Milan. It was inaugurated on Friday, October 14, in Corso XII Marzo.

Street artist Ozmo has donated a new mural, amonumental site-specific work, to the city of Milan. The work designed for Milan and its inhabitants was inaugurated on Friday, Oct. 14, on Corso XII Marzo (corner of Via Calvi) in the Lombard capital and was created thanks to the association Street is Culture and the cooperative Sociale di EST - Enosteria sociale, which, in a council house in the center of Milan, recovers people from difficult backgrounds, and does so by integrating them into the environment through art and work.

Through the resemantization of a Leonardo masterpiece to which the city is particularly attached, Ozmo pays homage to its history and artistic heritage. EST’s goal is to bring art where it is not accessible, and this is precisely what kicked off the collaboration with Ozmo and the public art project. Curated by Annalisa Ferraro, with the collaboration of RiparTIAMO Aps, the work takes up the long conceptual and aesthetic path undertaken by Ozmo many years ago. Indeed, the link between Ozmo and the Italian historical, art-historical and cultural tradition is still strong, and the desire to actualize it in contemporary, public and freely accessible works is still alive.

“After years of absence from the Milanese urban environment, I return to reciprocate the affection that the city has given me in the most decisive period of my artistic career,” Ozmo said.
