Piedmont's first artoteca is born: original works of art on loan at home

The first artoteca in Piedmont has been opened: in Domodossola at Collegio Rosmini.

Piedmont’s first artoteca, a place that preserves and disseminates contemporary artworks free of charge, has opened. It is located in Domodossola at the Collegio Rosmini, inside the men’s refectory. TheDi-Se Artoteca, that’s its name, offers a continuously updated collection, the first core of which consists of many of the original works that participated in the traveling exhibition Herbarium vagans inaugurated in 2020. It is an important new stage for the major Italy-Switzerland Interreg project “Di-Se - DiSegnare il territorio: tre anni all’insegna del disegno e dell’arte,” which involves Associazione Musei d’Ossola, Museumzentrum La Caverna di Naters and Associazione Asilo Bianco.

The project involves the home loan of original works that can remain on the walls of the home for up to two months, and will be delivered in an original frame. Everyone will be able to receive a maximum of two works in their home at the same time. To access the loan, it is necessary to register with theDi-Se Artoteca, and it is possible to choose the work to be hung on the walls of the home at the venue, with the help of experienced staff. Works are insured for the value defined by the author and can be purchased at the end of the loan by direct negotiation with the author. The catalog of loan works is available online at www.artotecadise.it, where online reservation service will also be activated in the future.

It is also necessary to follow certain rules for proper preservation of the work.

The idea behind Piedmont’s first artoteca is to give everyone the opportunity to enjoy, within their own homes, a work of art. The goal is to make sure that art can really be for everyone and reach everyone, free of charge, with a simple formula that can become customary.
