A film dedicated to the relationship between Andy Warhol and Jean-Michel Basquiat is about to be made.
The project is titled The Collaboration and is based on the play of the same name by Anthony McCarten (who was nominated for two Academy Awards for best nonoriginal screenplay, with The Theory of Everything and The Two Popes), who oversaw the adaptation to be directed by Kwame Kwei-Armah. The cast consists of Paul Bettany(A Beautiful Mind) who will play the Pop Art genius and Jeremy Pope who will play Basquiat, while in these hours Daniel Brühl(Inglourious Basterds) has also been added to play the role of Bruno Bischofberger, the one who proposed the collaboration between Warhol and Basquiat.
Filming will begin soon in Boston. The Collaboration premiered at the Young Vic Theatre in London last Feb. 12 and will arrive on Broadway in November, two months after the start of filming, which is scheduled to begin in September.
