Tonight, Wednesday, May 3, 2023, at 9:15 p.m. Art Night on Rai 5 broadcasts the documentary Infinito. The Universe of Luigi Ghirri written and directed by Matteo Parisini, with the voice of Stefano Accorsi, produced by Lorenzo Cioffi for Ladoc with the collaboration of Adele Ghirri, Eredi Luigi Ghirri in collaboration with Rai Cultura and Sky Arte, presented with great success at the Rome Film Festival, and in major international festivals.

Luigi Ghirri, an internationally renowned Italian photographer, wrote regularly throughout his life. His photography is reflected in his writing, which is at once a poetic statement, an existential argument, and a diary interrogating the present. Starting from his writings, the documentary traces the crucial stages of the photographer’s life. It is a journey to the places of the province, a study of land, water, hills, infinite horizons. It is an exploration of his photographic work, conceived not in terms of a single image, but as an alphabet in which each image exists only because of the others. The companions on this journey are the artists Franco Guerzoni and Davide Benati, the art historian Arturo Carlo Quintavalle, the printer Arrigo Ghi, the photographer Gianni Leone, the musician Massimo Zamboni, and finally the family, which represented for Ghirri the feeling of belonging to an ordinary but united community. Stefano Accorsi gives voice to Ghirri’s texts.

After airing, the documentary will be available on RaiPlay.
