Oscar night for Bologna-based film distribution company I Wonder Pictures.

Ten statuettes to three films distributed in Italian theaters by the Bologna-based film distribution company I Wonder Pictures: including "Everything Everywhere All at Once," which won seven awards.

On Oscar night in Los Angeles there is also a great triumph made in Emilia-Romagna. The Bologna-based film distribution company I Wonder Pictures, with six films in the nominations, achieves the achievement of ten Oscars awarded to three films it distributes: seven awards for Everything Everywhere All at Once, two for The Whale and a statuette for Best Documentary to Navalny, films brought to Italian theaters by the company founded ten years ago as part of the Biografilm Festival.

“An unforgettable evening for an established reality of our region. Congratulations to Andrea Romeo and the entire I Wonder team. Ten years ago,” say the President of the Region, Stefano Bonaccini, and the Regional Councillor for Culture, Mauro Felicori, “we greeted with interest and curiosity the founding of I Wonder Pictures, a distribution company that bet on the territory in which it was born, Bologna, and on the possibility of offering exhibitors and audiences a selection of the best international productions, often independent. A new and very important milestone, then, which adds to the numerous awards received over time by I Wonder from major international events.”

I Wonder Pictures is an enterprise born around the experience of the Biografilm festival for the distribution of documentaries, and has grown from there to be one of the most important independent distributors in Italy, the only one based in Emilia-Romagna, in addition to the ’particular and specific’ distribution activity of the Cineteca di Bologna for ’classic’ works.

Also in the running for the Oscars was Alice Rohrwacher’s short film Le Pupille, shot in Bologna, which, however, received no award.
