This year’s ART VIEW 2024 festival to be held in Cascina, Pisa, from Saturday, May 11 to Sunday, May 19, is dedicated to women who have managed through their strength and creativity to emerge in the history of art long dominated by male figures. Produced with the contribution of the Pisa Foundation, the festival is spread over nine days made up of meetings, exhibitions, performances and concerts with international artists, critics, experts and writers. During the Festival ART VIEW “Women in Art” at the City of the Theater in Cascina on Sunday, May 12, the exhibition "Photographers from the Alinari Archives" curated by Emanuela Sesti, an exhibition of works by Wanda and Marion Wulz, Edith Arnaldi and Ketty La Rocca, will be inaugurated. Giorgio van Straten, president of the Alinari Foundation, and Emanuela Sesti, scientific consultant of the Alinari Foundation, who will illustrate the works, will speak next.

On the morning of Sunday, May 12, the Sipario Toscana Foundation will present the work by Gio Pistone and unveil the sketch of the mural that will be created in the spaces of the Theater City. The work is commissioned with the intention of fostering an ever deeper connection with all forms of art. In the afternoon, Federico Giannini, director of Finestre Sull’Arte, will present The Woman Who Unveiled Van Gogh, a narrative about the life of Jo, Johanna Bonger Van Gogh. Jo, Vincent Van Gogh’s sister-in-law, was a painter and translator of Vincent’s letters into English, playing a crucial role in the artist’s emergence after his tragic suicide. The story conducted in three voices together with Anna Lisa Matarazzo and Nicola Fanucchi, explores the path taken by Jo Van Gogh - Bonger to spread Vincent’s art to the world. A great international performer of popular music will take the stage on the evening: the Portuguese Teresa Salgueiro accompanied for the occasion by the Solis String Quartet and Rui Lobato for the exclusive concert "Canti naviganti."
