OnSaturday, May 11, 2024 in Cascina (Pisa), on the opening day of the ART VIEW Festival “Women in Art,” Gaia Nanni and Sandro Ivo Bartoli will be the protagonists of the event Women’s Impression. The vibrant years of late 19th century France: an evocative candlelight concert with music by Debussy, Ravel and Satie, in which Gaia Nanni will tell the story of the impressionist artists of the late 19th century through texts by Daniela Morelli written especially for the festival.
The Tuscan actress will recount, in a monologue, the leading female painters of that era, such as Berthe Morisot, Mary Cassat and Eva Gonzales who found their artistic expression in the Impressionist movement, or like Susan Valadon, model and painter, mother of Maurice Utrillo, a woman with a rebellious temperament, modern and nonconformist, whose artistic journey is finally being reevaluated today.
And along with these tales, a candlelight concert: that of Sandro Ivo Bartoli, an internationally renowned pianist and virtuoso, who will perform a repertoire that will include first and foremost Eric Satie, and then Claude Debussy, Maurice Ravel and other composers transporting us to the musical atmospheres of the era. An intimate and emotional concert, enhanced by the light of hundreds of candles, which will illuminate the stage creating a magical and evocative setting.
The performance, created exclusively for the ART VIEW festival, will be the concluding event of the first day of the festival itself, which will open at 11 a.m. with institutional greetings and at 11:45 a.m. with a Lectio Magistralis by Cristina Acidini, President of the Accademia delle Arti del Disegno of Florence, entitled Le donne nell’arte (Women in Art ) with free admission by reservation.
