Monday, December 19, 2022, from 8 to 11 p.m., is scheduled to be the only date of the winter season when it will be possible to walk through the ruins of Pompeii by moonlight.

Theonly date of the winter season for a nighttime walk through the ruins of Pompeii: on Monday, Dec. 19, from 8 to 11 p.m. (last admission at 10 p.m.), the public will have the opportunity to visit the monumental area of the Civil Forum, illuminated by Enel Sole, the public buildings for the administration of the city and justice, for the management of business, for commercial activities, such as the markets, as well as the main places of city worship.

The moonlight walk will start from Porta Marina, and visitors will be accompanied by an artistic sound intervention created by Invernomuto (Simone Bertuzzi and Simone Trabucchi), which, starting with the work Black Med, POMPEII, made possible thanks to the support of Italian Council (7th edition, 2019), a project of the General Directorate of Creativity Contemporary, upon presentation by Fondazione Morra Greco of Naples and became part of the Park’s new contemporary art collection (Collectio) within the Pompeii Commitment program. Archaeological Matters, has created asound installation designed especially for the evening. This intercepts, collects and composes together the sound trajectories that cross the Mediterranean area.

The tour concludes with a visit to the Antiquarium, a 19th-century building that houses a museum space dedicated to the permanent exhibition of artifacts illustrating the history of Pompeii. Exit from Piazza Esedra. During evening visits, the Antiquarium bookshop will be open to the public.
