Quadrennial Art Exhibition prepares for opening next October

The Quadriennale d'Arte, the only exhibition devoted entirely to promoting Italian art, prepares for its opening next October

Fondazione La Quadriennale di Roma andAzienda Speciale Palaexpo announce their intention in opening the Quadriennale d’arte, entirely dedicated to the promotion of Italian art, next October at the Palazzo delle Esposizioni.

The curators of the Quadriennale 2020, Sarah Cosulich and Stefano Collicelli Cagol, are readjusting the exhibition project in dialogue with the artists and the organizing team, but keeping intact the sense of an exhibition that intends to offer a novel perspective on Italian art from the 1960s to the present.

The exhibition, which will cover about 4,000 square meters, will be a look at current research and some transgenerational paths in order to give space and importance to the complexity of some poetics, such as research on the borderline between different disciplines. It also intends to be an exhibition with a strong curatorial slant and international scope, involving about forty artists and giving special attention to projects.

“There has been no flexing of the work begun three years ago; on the contrary, we are even more motivated to do our duty. We think that opening the Quadriennale next October, as planned, would be a beautiful signal and the most concrete contribution we can make to the recovery,” said Umberto Croppi, president of Fondazione La Quadriennale di Roma.

“The conditions are in place for the Quadriennale to be one of the first major exhibitions to reopen in the manner that will be allowed, and we are particularly happy if this can take place at the Palazzo delle Esposizioni,” added Cesare Pietroiusti, president of Azienda Speciale Palaexpo.

The Quadriennale d’arte will be made possible thanks to significant funding from the state, through the General Directorate for Contemporary Creativity of the Mibact, which is also promoting the main collateral event to the exhibition, dedicated to the enhancement of young artists and Fine Arts Academies, the AccadeMibact Prize. The production will also see the support of private partners. Partnership agreements are underway with industry, services and media.

A membership program, both individual and corporate, is available at www.quadriennalediroma/membership.
