Savona opens up to contemporary art with CONNEXXION festival and Arteam Cup 2022

Savona, the city opens up to contemporary art with the widespread CONNEXXION festival, which aims to offer testimony to the regenerative value of art, and with the exhibition of the 70 finalists of Arteam Cup 2022, hosted inside the Palazzo del Commissario on the Priamàr Fortress.

From Nov. 26, 2022 to Jan. 7, 2023, Savona will open up to contemporary art with the widespread festival CONNEXXION - 12 artists for 12 places, which aims to offer testimony to the regenerative value of art, and with the exhibition of the 70 finalists of Arteam Cup 2022, hosted inside the Palazzo del Commissario on the Priamàr Fortress.

Both projects, conceived and implemented by theArteam Cultural Association of Albissola Marina in close dialogue with institutions and private individuals, have enabled and will enable citizens and tourists to experience art through the exhibitions and installations, as well as performances, workshops and talks with free access, the program of which, which is constantly being updated, is available at www.connexxion.it.

CONNEXXION, Festival Diffuso di Arte Contemporanea, curated by Livia Savorelli, is realized with the contribution and patronage of the City of Savona, the contribution of the Agostino De Mari Foundation, the contribution of the Region of Liguria and the support of Costa Crociere. Welcomed with great enthusiasm by the municipal administration and developed in synergy with Nicoletta Negro, councillor for the Comprensorial Policies of Culture and Tourism, the Festival starts from the assumption that Culture, being connected to individual and collective development, is an indispensable resource for social cohesion and the biopsychosocial health of the community. The subtitle, Reconnecting from the City, emphasizes the open and inclusive project nature of the event, focused on relational and participatory art.

Twelve artists(Andrea Bianconi, Eleonora Chiesa, Vanni Cuoghi, Giovanni Gaggia, Loredana Galante, L’orMa, Ilaria Margutti, Camilla Marinoni, Vincenzo Marsiglia, Alice Padovani, Francesca Romana Pinzari and Mona Lisa Tina) were invited to experience Savona and create a project connected to a place in the city, discovering its architectural beauties and cultural specificities, but also its criticalities, starting with those who define and constitute the city, namely its inhabitants. The artists’ stories and research were thus interwoven with those of the place, giving rise to new narratives and paths of meaning. Fundamental to the realization of the Festival was the involvement of local institutions (City of Savona, Archaeological Museum, Savona Ceramics Museum, Sistine Chapel, Chapel of theformer Civic Hospital of San Paolo di Savona, Brandale Tower, Episcopal Seminary), the city’s galleries (GULLIarte, Vico Spinola Art Gallery, Temide Design Art Store) and several Savona businesses (Atelier a picagetta and Ristorante Bino), with the valuable collaboration of those who run them.
