After nearly a century, Milan dedicates an exhibition to Pellizza da Volpedo

Milan will host an exhibition dedicated to Pellizza da Volpedo after nearly a century at the Maspes Galleries and Gallerie Enrico.

Gallerie Maspes and Gallerie Enrico pay tribute to Pellizza da Volpedo with an exhibition dedicated to him that will run from October 12 to December 22, 2018.

The city of Milan holds the artist’s major masterpieces, Fiumana at the Pinacoteca di Brera and the Fourth Estate at the Museo del Novecento.

Fifteen of his most signicative works will be exhibited on the occasion of the review, which aim to retrace Pellizza da Volpedo’s artistic activity by analyzing his themes and stylistic characteristics.
Almost a century after the last exhibition dedicated to this artist in Milan, held at Galleria Pesaro in 1920, works from public and private collections will be presented.

In addition, a special section of the exhibition at the Maspes Galleries will make visible the diagnostic analyses carried out on the paintings with state-of-the-art technology: the life-size X-ray of the Fourth Estate will also be visible.

Gallerie Enrico will offer a selection of works by Pellizza da Volpedo in dialogue with masterpieces by Divisionist masters. Among the artists featured are Giovanni Segantini, Angelo Morbelli, Cesare Maggi, Emilio Longoni, Carlo Fornara, Vittore Grubicy, Gaetano Previati and Plinio Nomellini.
