Beatrice Meoni returns to Cardelli & Fontana with a new solo exhibition of recent works

Cardelli & Fontana in Sarzana is hosting Beatrice Meoni’s fourth solo exhibition at the gallery. The exhibition features a selection of recent works that revisit and reinterpret the central themes of her artistic practice.

From June 27 to September 12, 2026, Cardelli & Fontana in Sarzana will host Beatrice Meoni ’s fourth solo exhibition at the gallery. The exhibition brings together a selection of recent works that revisit and reinterpret the central themes of her artistic practice, accompanied by a critical essay by Ilaria Mariotti.

Titled *E altre cose si possono fare*(And Other Things Can Be Done), the exhibition presents a core group of works that bear witness to the evolution of the artist’s painterly journey, while keeping alive the dialogue with the subjects and reflections that have always characterized her work. At the heart of her practice lies the very act of painting: a constant engagement with the medium, involving layering, erasure, abrasion, and the application of color, in an intimate process that takes shape on the surface of the canvas.

A tapestry of themes runs through the artist’s entire body of work: on the one hand, a sense of bewilderment in the face of the vastness of the universe—observed with a gaze capable of reaching beyond the horizon—and the majesty of nature; on the other, a focus on what is close and familiar—the objects of daily life, simple yet laden with meaning. The home, the studio, other homes from other lives—those of childhood, the family of origin, then adulthood, the homes of others, and, by extension, the shells of seashells, the treehouse as a refuge for thought.

The exhibition also opens up to a series of interdisciplinary dialogues that broaden the reflection on the artist’s work. Among these is a dialogue with Giovanni Maccari, rooted in shared experiences and familiar places, exploring the theme of rooms—which serve as the central thread of a conversation compiled into a small book to be presented at the gallery in September.

Another project takes shape from the encounter with master perfumer Maria Candida Gentile, introduced by Lara Conte. The dialogue between painterly exploration and olfactory creation highlights affinities and shared paths, linked to travel, the archive, and the relationship with nature. In Maria Candida Gentile’s home and studio, on the hill above Sarzana, a space will be created as a meeting place between fragrance and painting, where a selection of works by Beatrice Meoni will engage with a shared theme, giving rise to a unique sensory and artistic experience.

Opening Saturday, June 27, at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 27, and Sunday, June 28, 10:00 a.m.–12:30 p.m. / 5:00 p.m.–8:00 p.m. Gallery hours: Monday through Saturday, 10:00 a.m.–12:30 p.m. and 5:00 p.m.–7:30 p.m.
