Cuneo, an interactive exhibition on Charles Schultz and his Peanuts

An interactive exhibition dedicated to the great cartoonist Charles M. Schultz and his most famous work, the Peanuts: this is the one being held in Cuneo at the CRC Foundation from Oct. 7, 2023 to Oct. 1, 2024.

An interactive exhibition dedicated to the great cartoonist Charles M. Schultz (Minneapolis, 1922 - Santa Rosa, 2000) and his most famous work, the Peanuts: this is the one being held in Cuneo at the CRC Foundation from October 7, 2023 to April 1, 2024. Charles M. Schulz, A Life with the Peanuts. An Immersive Exhibition in the Work of the Greatest Cartoonist of the 20th Century: this is the title of the exhibition curated by Federico Fiecconi and set up at Spazio Innov@zione (Via Roma, 17), which will allow visitors to enter into dialogue with Schulz’s life and immerse themselves in the world conceived by the cartoonist: history, timelines and curiosities will be told through objects, video walls and interactive applications. A space in the exhibition will be dedicated to the youngest children to learn about Schulz’s characters in a playful and interactive way, also interacting through famous phrases and drawings.

Curator Federico Fiecconi, an expert on drawn imagery, conceived this immersive experience for the CUADRI Cultural Association, starting from his meeting with Schulz in the early 1980s at his studio in “One Snoopy Place” in Santa Rosa, Northern California. “The interview as a young reporter with the world comics legend, almost a pilgrimage, marked me deeply,” says Federico Fiecconi. “It was the discovery of a gentle genius who, day after day, was conceiving and putting on paper a poem in the form of words and drawings.” Building on the long wave of that encounter with Schulz, the exhibition in Cuneo today intends to give visitors the thrill of also being face -to-face with what is considered by many not only the greatest cartoonist of the 20th Century, but has even been called the author of the longest illustrated story ever told in the history of mankind. According to Fiecconi, “the 17,897 strips and plates that Schulz published from October 2, 1950, to February 13, 2000, are a tender, at times fierce session of self-analysis: the therapy of a cartoonist who remained a child confronting the world, his affections, his relationships with others, and his flights of fancy. The title of the exhibition makes explicit precisely this intimate identification of the author with his own work.”

“The story of a shy provincial boy who overcomes a difficult apprenticeship and arrives to be the most published cartoonist in the world can be of great inspiration to new generations: only with discipline and tenacity is it possible to achieve one’s goals and transform dreams into reality,” explains Andrea Borri, president of Cuadri. "An exhibition with an international scope, made possible thanks to important collaborations, including in particular the one with the Charles M. Schulz Museum in Santa Rosa, the official museum created in California more than 20 years ago in honor of the creator of the Peanuts strip. Precisely with this in mind, the contents of the exhibition will be entirely in English and Italian, with the aim of making the original work of the American master appreciated, while at the same time making it understandable to a wider audience."

“This new exhibition event continues the work that CRC Innova has carried out in recent years, in close partnership with the CRC Foundation, to offer exhibitions capable of reaching different audiences, with a special focus on the younger generations and the theme of talent,” adds Michelangelo Pellegrino, president of CRC Innova. “Upon entering the innovation space, visitors will be able to immerse themselves in the world of Peanuts, thanks to a unique exhibit design suitable for all ages.”

“Thanks to the activity of CRC Innova, we give continuity to a series of high-level cultural initiatives, made possible thanks to the collaboration with important institutions and valuable realities present in the territory. The Peanuts cartoons have left an indelible mark on the readings of children and adults alike, thanks to the subtle irony that has always characterized Schulz: I am sure that this exhibition, which enriches the cultural offerings of the city of Cuneo and the entire province, will also leave its mark on all visitors,” concludes Ezio Raviola, president of CRC Foundation.

The exhibition, with free and free admission, will be open from Saturday, Oct. 7, 2023 to Monday, April 1, 2024, Tuesday through Friday from 3:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. and on Saturdays and Sundays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. Guided tours for schools are available in the morning by reservation at info@crcinnova.it. The exhibition is produced in association with the Charles M. Schulz Museum in Santa Rosa, California, exhibition design and experience curated by Centrica S.r.l.
