De Chirico and Savinio exhibition opens in Cortina d'Ampezzo

Farsettiarte Gallery opens the exhibition 'I Dioscuri' dedicated to De Chirico and Savinio in Cortina d'Ampezzo. February 24 through March 11, 2018

The Farsettiarte Gallery in Cortina d’Ampezzo presents the exhibition “I Dioscuri,” which begins today, Feb. 24, and will end on March 11. The exhibition is entirely dedicated to Giorgio De Chirico and Alberto Savinio: the latter was actually Andrea Francesco Alberto De Chirico, Giorgio’s brother, who signed his works under that pseudonym to distance himself from his brother.

The title of the exhibition encapsulates the essence of the two artists: born in Greece to Sicilian parents, the two artists were influenced by Greek culture and mythology for their works. Like the Dioscuri, the twins Castor and Pollux, Giorgio and Alberto also had a fraternal attunement that manifested itself in their artistic and poetic works (Alberto devoted himself to literature and music before pursuing the art of drawing like Giorgio). “The two of us had only one thought,” Alberto once said.

The exhibition opens to the public from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 4 to 7:30 p.m.
