The exhibition After the Flood has been extended until January 20, 2019. Filippo Palizzi, Nature and the Arts, underway in Vasto at the Civic Museums of Palazzo D’Avalos. Inaugurated on June 16, the exhibition, celebrating the 200th anniversary of the birth of Filippo Palizzi (Vasto, 1818 - Naples, 1899), has been well attended with about 4,000 visitors, and with the beginning of the school year, almost all the schools in Vasto and many schools in Abruzzo, nearly 50 classes, have visited the exhibition and taken advantage of the educational services provided by the municipality.

Thus, in order to give everyone the opportunity to participate in the important exhibition, the municipal administration has decided from November 6 until January 20 to extend the opening hours of the exhibition, which will be open on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays from 10 a.m. to noon and 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., Saturdays and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.

The exhibition traces, through various thematic sections, the entire span of Filippo Palizzi’s activity in the period between 1830 and 1899. From his beginnings in his hometown, Vasto, to his formative years in Naples, his travels in Northern Europe, his close dialogue with Paris, his sojourns in Cava de Tirreni, and his activities at the Museo Artistico Industriale in Naples. Through more than 150 works on loan from prestigious museums and another 50 from the Civic Museums of Palazzo dAvalos in Vasto, the exhibition aims to narrate the personality of Filippo Palizzi by focusing on the crucial stages of his artistic career conducted in different spheres and articulated by multiple experiences that led him to confront continuous experimentation, which landed in results of extraordinary modernity with a breath of European stature.

Tickets: full price 5 euros, reduced 3.50 euros (children 11 to 18 years, students up to 26 years, journalists), schools 3 euros. Free for children under 10, disabled visitors with accompanying person, guides and interpreters from the European community, ICOM members, MIBACT employees, teachers accompanying school groups.
