From Picasso to Fontana: for the first time, works on display from the collection of Sandro Cherchi

The exhibition From Picasso to Fontana opens on October 3, 2018 in Bologna. Half a century of artist's gazes in works from the collection of Sandro Cherchi.

On October 3, 2018, the exhibition"From Picasso to Fontana. Half a century of artist’s gazes in the works of Sandro Cherchi’s collection" open to the public until April 7, 2019.

On display for the first time will be a wide selection of works that are part of the Lercaro Collection thanks to the donation of artist Sandro Cherchi (Genoa, 1911 - 1998) made in 1997.
These include drawings, engravings, ceramics and glassware created by Cherchi, as well as works by Marino Marini, Felice Casorati, Lucio Fontana, Mino Maccari, Pablo Picasso, Jean Dubuffet, Ennio Morlotti and Emilio Scanavino.

The body of works testifies to how the cultural climate in which Cherchi worked, between Milan, Turin and Genoa, was alive in the postwar period. Also understood are the artistic relationships that linked Sandro Cherchi to his contemporaries.

The exhibition is curated by Andrea Dall’Asta SJ.
