Genoa, blockbuster exhibition comparing Paganini and Jimi Hendrix at Palazzo Ducale

The Paganini Rockstar exhibition, all dedicated to Niccolò Paganini (Genoa, 1782 - Nice, 1840), a famous violinist who is often considered a rock star on par with Jimi Hendrix (Seattle, 1942 - London, 1970), despite the fact that he lived at a time when rock’n’roll obviously did not yet exist, is on view at Palazzo Ducale in Genoa until March 10, 2019.

In fact, the exhibition, in addition to tracing Paganini’s artisitic career, aims to show the influence the violinist exerted on the rock stars of our time and to juxtapose him precisely with the Seattle guitarist. Although the two artists used two different stringed instruments, the effects they aroused on audiences were almost identical, thanks to the mastery and virtuosity the two musicians displayed with their respective musical instruments.

The exhibition will make use of interventions by music historian Salvatore Accardo, a great expert on Paganini, as well as current artists such as Morgan, Gianna Nannini and Roberto Bolle. The exhibition will also make use of workshops and educational activities aimed at younger visitors. Wanting this project is Palazzo Ducale director Luca Bizzarri, who made it possible thanks to Roberto Grisley, Raffaele Mellace and Ivano Fossati.
