Now in its tenth year, the Lerici Music Festival is strengthening the dialogue between music and the visual arts—a focus that has taken on an increasingly central role in the event’s programming in recent years. As part of the festival “Music, Images, and Words from the Water,” a project dedicated to contemporary art—curated by Carlo Orsini and organized in collaboration with Galleria Continua—is featured for the third consecutive year.
The 2026 edition presents *I miei orizzonti* and *Tu*, a solo exhibition by Giovanni Ozzola, on view atVillaMarigola in Lerici from July 22 to August 2. The exhibition brings together photography, sculpture, installation, and video in a narrative specifically conceived for the context of the Gulf of Poets, with the sea serving as the central element of the artist’s reflection and as a reference to the history and imagery of the region.
For years, Giovanni Ozzola’s work has focused on the themes of light, time, and space through a practice that spans various expressive languages. His works often take shape in frontier locations—such as deserts, oceans, abandoned architecture, or vantage points overlooking the horizon—which he transforms into spaces for exploring the relationship between humans and the environment. The exhibition project is part of the cultural program of the Lerici Music Festival, which is also organizing a series of events titled “Breakfast Conversations” during the exhibition’s run. Curated by Carlotta Sorba and Carlo Orsini, these sessions explore the relationship between sound, image, and movement in the visual arts and music, further developing the interdisciplinary dialogue that characterizes the festival.
The exhibition opening is scheduled for Thursday, July 22. That same evening, at 9:15 p.m., Villa Marigola will also host the Paul Lay Trio’s concert *Homer’s Odyssey in Jazz*, a program inspired by Homer’s*Odyssey *. This musical event will accompany the opening of the exhibition and reaffirms the Lerici Music Festival’s commitment to bringing together the visual arts and music within a single cultural project.
Born in Florence in 1982, Giovanni Ozzola’s artistic practice encompasses installation, sculpture, photography, printmaking, and video.
