Modena, Cola dell'Amatrice and the Master of the Crivelleschi Polyptychs on display.

From December 8, 2018 to June 2, 2019, Modena is hosting the exhibition Distinguished Guests in the Gallery. Master of the Crivelleschi and Cola dell'Amatrice Polyptychs.

On Saturday, December 8, 2018, at La Galleria di BPER in Modena, the exhibition Illustrious Guests in the Gallery opened to the public. Master of the Crivelleschi and Cola dell’Amatrice Polyptychs, curated by Prof. Lucia Peruzzi and Dr. Rossana Torlontano. It is scheduled from December 8, 2018 until June 2, 2019.

With this new exhibition, three major works from the Abruzzo collection nucleus are presented to the public: two panels by Cola dell’Amatrice (Nicola Filotesio, Amatrice, 1480 or 1489 - Ascoli Piceno, 1547 or 1559) and a gold background by the Master of the Crivelleschi Polyptychs, testimonies of the artistic culture spread betweenAbruzzo and the Renaissance Marche from the late 15th century to the early 16th century. The monumental polyptych attributed to the anonymous artistic personality of the Master of the Crivelleschi Polyptychs (a name derived from its descent from the school that originated with the painter Carolo Crivelli, active in the mid-15th century in theAdriatic basin) constitutes an example of the lively cultural climate in L’Aquila at the end of the 15th century.

By Cola dell’Amatrice, an all-round Renaissance artist, two panels executed for the Ascoli area are displayed: a large altarpiece made in 1512 for the church of San Gennaro in Folignano and a smaller one commissioned in 1522 by patricians Francesco and Bernardino Corni and Lattanzio Troili for the family chapel in the church of San Francesco in Ascoli Piceno. With the occasion of the exhibition, the restoration of the two works by Cola dell’Amatrice was also carried out and the restoration of the Polyptych was started, “activities that demonstrate BPER Banca’s attention to a conscious and professional management of its artistic heritage,” a note reads.
