Nuoro, Europe's first exhibition dedicated to African artist Kiluanji Kia Henda arrives at MAN

From January 31 to March 1, 2020, MAN Nuoro will host 'Something happened on the way to heaven,' Kiluanji Kia Henda's first exhibition in Europe.

The MAN Museo d’Arte Provincia di Nuoro presents the first exhibition dedicated to Kiluanji Kia Henda(Luanda, Angola, 1979) ever opened in a European museum.

Something Happened on the Way to Heaven, on view from January 31 to March 1, 2020, showcases sculptures and installations that the artist created specifically for the Nuoro Museum during his stay in Sardinia along with his previous photographic productions. In the newly produced works, the scenic beauty of the Sardinian land blends with the architectural traces of the Cold War and the military bases still present on the island.

The exhibition is curated by Luigi Fassi, director of MAN, in collaboration with the Fondazione Sardegna Film Commission, which invited the artist to stay on the island and offer his own aesthetic view of Sardinia. The exhibition project will then be presented by MAN within the exhibition spaces of Galerias Municipais in Lisbon in October 2020.
