On the occasion of the 140th anniversary of Claude Monet’s first Monegasque and Côte d’Azur stopover, where the master ofImpressionism discovered landscapes and lights that would give a turning point to his production and career, the Grimaldi Forum in Monaco will host from July 8 to September 3, 2023, the event exhibition entitled Monet in Full Light, curated by Marianne Mathieu and organized with the support of the Musée Marmottan Monet in Paris.

Around a section devoted to paintings made during his stays on the Riviera, through twenty-one loans of exceptional works exhibited for the first time at the places still preserved where they were painted, the exhibition aims to present the master’s art, from his youth in Le Havre to his last paintings in Giverny, dwelling on his quest to capture light.

The exhibition will bring together a hundred paintings, nearly half of which have been granted thanks to the exceptional support of the Musée Marmottan Monet. The other masterpieces will be on loan from private collections, including the Prince’s Palace in Monaco, and from major international institutions such as the Cleveland Museum of Art, the Columbus Museum of Art, the Denver Art Museum, the Hammer Museum in Los Angeles, the Saint Louis Art Museum, the Museo Nacional Thyssen-Bornemisza in Madrid, the Barberini Museum in Potsdam, the Von der Heydt-Museum in Wuppertal, and the Fondation Beyeler in Basel.
