Palazzo Fava in Bologna hosts a major retrospective devoted to Zhang Dali

Palazzo Fava in Bologna is devoting a major retrospective to Chinese artist Zhang Dali: Meta-Morphosis.

Palazzo Fava in Bologna is dedicating a retrospective to one of the best-known contemporary Chinese artists, Zhang Dali (Harbin, 1963).

Called a street artist because of his continuous desire to dialogue with urban space, Zhang Dali, a painter, sculptor, performer and photographer, has stated that all his works have a close relationship with the reality around him.

It was in the city of Bologna between 1989 and 1995 that he discovered graffiti art, of which he became a forerunner in China.

220 works including sculptures, paintings, photographs and installations, divided into nine sections, tell the story of China’s social, historical and economic transformation over the past three decades.
His works have been exhibited in the world’s leading galleries and museums.

The Meta-Morphosis-Zhang Dali retrospective is on view from March 23 to June 24, 2018.
