Rome, Banksy's works at Tiburtina Station with The World of Banksy exhibition

From June 21 to Nov. 27, Tiburtina station in Rome is invaded by Banksy's works with the exhibition 'The World of Banksy - The Immersive Experience.

All roads lead to Rome: the exhibition The World of Banksy - The Immersive Experience reaches the eternal city, hosting the art of the famous British street artist at the Rome Tiburtina Station Commercial Gallery from June 21 to November 27, 2022.

The itinerary features more than 100 works, murals and objects by the British artist, tracing his entire production, from the paintings of the very first phase of his career to the last years, from works made with the hand graffiti technique to those created with the stencil that allows him a greater speed of execution. The exhibition aims to present, through the works, a multi-layered narrative of a story spanning more than two decades and leads the viewer to immerse himself in a world full of food for thought. The World of Banksy complements the traditional exhibition narrative with a virtual section, i-Banksy, where for the first time the mysterious street artist’s most iconic artworks become animated thanks to short videos that tell the story and social critique behind the murals found around the world.

The World of Banksy - The Immersive Experience offers audiences the chance to understand the importance and relevance of the social message of the artist’s works, delving into the themes of capitalism, war, social control and freedom in the broadest sense, all embedded in the paradoxes of our time. The exhibition analyzes Banksy’s ability to integrate into space and know no boundaries, managing to reach unimaginable areas, places of war and conflict where even institutions cannot reach.

The recurring subjects, such as monkeys, rats, policemen who ironically symbolize clearly distinguishable human types and are often slogan bearers, find a home inside the Roma Tiburtina station, which, with its approximately 500 trains a day and 140 thousand daily transits, is one of the underground places that most represents Banksy’s street art and universal language, capable of reaching the heart, thoughts and soul of all people in the world.
